Curriculum Overview

Curriculum overviewCurriculum overviewOne of Forest Moor School’s greatest strengths is that it is a small school and staff know all the students well.  We follow the national curriculum from Key stage 2 to Key Stage 4. Pupils are able to sit GCSE’s in Key Stage 4, however if this isn’t appropriate we seek a suitable alternative that will give pupils the opportunity to have success and gain a nationally recognised outcome, thus allowing every student to reach their potential and have their best chance of success upon leaving our school.

Our curriculum is designed to match individual interests and needs, with Teachers considering individual pupils personal, social and emotional development when planning lessons. As pupils progress into Key Stage 4, we make every effort to tailor the curriculum further to prepare pupils for further education, training and employment by offering careers support and places on appropriate vocational training pathways. This supports the transition and better prepares pupils for life after School.

As a small school we work very hard to ensure that students can study a wide range of subjects, the curriculum is as broad and balanced as we can make it.

One of the big advantages of our curriculum model is that it is flexible and we review what we offer annually. It is also enhanced by exceptional care, support and guidance delivered in a safe and nurturing environment.

The subject pages will provide more detail about individual subjects that we offer at Forest Moor School.
