Forest Moor is a school which prides itself on the fact that everyone knows each other. Relationships between staff and pupils are based on a considerate understanding of the needs of our pupils. Our aim is to achieve an atmosphere where our pupils feel cared for and safe. We are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment in which pupils can thrive and grow. We do so through the assessment and approaches of a personalised therapeutic model, which facilitates the promotion of encouragement and restorative experiences, and which offers improved and sustained positive outcomes.

We have a number of intervention rooms that allow us to focus on the individual needs of our pupils. Our reflection room is a quiet place which provides a feeling of calm and an opportunity to explore the emotional and psychological well-being of all of our pupils safely and with appropriate support. Our approach is integrative and our focus is prevalent to pupils presenting with emotional and mental health difficulties. We have a professional therapist with specialist training, knowledge and experience in a range of psychological therapies.

Counselling supports children and young people to cope better with personal and relationship problems, adverse life events and developmental processes. It offers opportunities to explore, understand and resolve problems while developing personal and social resources, coping strategies and psychological resilience.
